José Moreno is the Managing Partner of the firm. Previously, José was a Junior Partner in ECM Corporate Finance, a Spanish boutique that provides financial advisory services to CFOs and CEOs of SMEs on financial planning, special situations, fundraising and IPO processes. He also worked in several technology start-ups in Germany and Spain and began his career as a Business Analyst at British American Tobacco (BAT) based out of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
José holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from IESE Business School. He is also an alumnus of the CEMS-MIM program (Bocconi & HEC Paris).

Xavier was the founder and general manager of ANGEM Specialities, chemical specialties distribution company. Previously, Xavier served as Specialty Chemicals Sales Manager for Iberia at Albright & Wilson. With a career spanning more than 40 years in the chemical industry, Xavier has always managed to position his companies as the reference in metal surface and water treatment.
Xavier holds a degree in Chemistry by Universitat de Barcelona and a masters in sales management by EAE.
CABIESA is the investment vehicle of the Pardo Martín family. Their investment in Somontano Capital is directly overseen by Manuel Pardo Martín, with support from his brothers Asís and Carlos.
Manuel holds and MBA by IESE and is currently the director of digital development at Europa Press. Asís also holds an MBA by IESE and is a risk trader at BBVA. Carlos holds a PhD in Medical Engineering by Harvard University and is a strategy consultant at McKisney’s New York office.
Inversiones Cabiedes is the investment vehicle of José and Luis Martín Gutiérrrez de Cabiedes and one with the longest trajectory investing in search funds.
José is the founder and Managing Partner of Cabiedes & Partners, venture capital company, focused on investing in technology and internet companies in Spain. José is, as well, Entrepreneurship professor at IESE and Member of the Board of Europa Press. Formerly, José was Executive Director at BBVA Asset Management and founder of the hedge fund BBVA & Partners. He also worked in the trading department at Santander.
José is Industrial Engineer by Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICAI) and holds an MBA by IESE.
William P Egan is an American venture capital investor. He founded and managed Alta Communications, a venture capital firm and Marion Equity Partners, a private equity firm, both based in Boston. Bill also founded Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co (BEDCO) in 1979 and has identified and backed several of America’s leading growth companies in the information technology, life sciences, and communications industries. Nowadays, Bill is a member of the board of trustees at Fairfield University and UPenn and co-owner of Boston Celtics sports team.
Bill received an MBA awarded from Wharton Business School, of the University of Pennsylvania.
Mark is the founder and Managing Partner of Marion Equity Partners. Previously, Mark invested in venture capital in technology, medical care, media and commercial services industries at Polaris Venture Partners and Alta Communications.
Mark has a BA in finance from Fairfield University and an MBA from Wharton Business School, of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2008 Juan Luis founded Logiscenter, a provider of equipment and services related to bar codes, RFID, access control and point-of-sale, with presence in over 85 countries. Previously, Juan Luis had held sales management positions in different suppliers of logistics technology.
Juan Luis received a degree in Economics from Universidad de Sevilla and Paderborn Universität.
